Udaipur : The City of Lakes

It doesn’t matter how many places you’ve visited, you’ll always have a special place in your heart for your own. Udaipur “The city of lakes” is that place for me. When it comes to that special place you carrying loads of memories to cherish forever, it automatically occupies that soft corner of your soul.

I’ve visited Udaipur with my 3 friends last year and this trip becomes a blessing of magical moments in my life, that I’m very grateful for. This city is filled with eternal beauty and everything magical around it.

Get to know Uda
ipur city

So to describe it , this city is filled with lakes and short hills all around it. A place, which is famous for its rajput–era palaces and beautiful scenic locations, a place that carries a wide history and culture with it ,a place which is on the bucket list of every traveller, a place where many couples plan their dream destination wedding. This place is majorly known by the city of lakes, Venice of east, and the Kashmir of Rajasthan, Udaipur, the city where my heart lies.

There are plenty of things to do in Udaipur, one may even get confused as the city offers some amazing ways to enjoy every season, whether it’s summer, winter or rainy. Personally, what I’ve experienced that best time to visit Udaipur is Monsoon season. Monsoon vibe of Udaipur is so magical and charismatic that you’ll never think about to go back home from there. All my friends visited with me have same opinion. Monsoon feel of Udaipur is so beautiful. A little fact, Udaipur has a place called 'A monsoon palace' . My personal favourite place of Udaipur where I felt the most alive. Visiting Monsoon palace (Sajjan Garh fort) is one of the top things to do in Udaipur. You can go Udaipur city easily by Train or Flight.

And Second best thing I’ve experience was to strolling around Fateh Sagar lake which is an big artificial lake built by Maharana jai Singh. Fateh sagar lake is the marine drive of Mumbai and C.P of delhi for people in Udaipur, where everyone hangout and chill in night. I was strolling at this place every day in Udaipur in night time. It has several roadside eateries to satisfy your hunger. Udaipur has really tasty food with flavours of Rajasthani spices in it, Some lip-smacking food I had in Udaipur was Rajasthani flavoured kachori samosas with mixture of Rajasthani chutneys and curd in main bazar, perfect spicy breakfast to start your day. That was the first time I tried something like this and I never saw this in any city of India.

So is the city all about lakes? Obviously nahhh! Udaipur has every ingredient which can relish its visitors. Forts, palaces, museums, temples, Hills, zoo, gardens, fountains, statues, beautiful palace hotels,Malls, fairs, obviously main 7 lakes and what not!!! This city has the power to make you forget about all your worries feel like this is the only place where you only belong to.

Getting around Udaipur city

This city is small and the best way to explore it is by strolling through the streets through car or bike.

Personally I feel two wheeler is best to feel the real vibes of streets of Udaipur. If you don’t have this then don’t worry you can get Auto rickshaw and uber/Ola easily there to travel. What me and my friends did that we took the rent bike from Udaipur and that was the best part of our Udaipur trip to strolling on bikes on beautiful streets of Udaipur.

Must see places of Udaipur – Monsoon palace, Fateh sagar lake, Karni Mata temple, Badi lake, The city palace, Pichhola lake, Ambrai ghat. They were my favourites don’t miss doing this when you go there.

The best view I got from monsoon palace and karni mata temple in Udaipur. They were really out of the world.
